Rainfall
Statistics
Introduction:
Recording rainfall is one of the important tasks of weather
stations. Meteorologists, farmers, civil engineers and many other
professionals use the rain data in their activities. For example farmers
and other agricultural experts use the rainfall data along with some
other information to determine which plants are appropriate for each
area. Civil engineers will use the rain data to plan sewer systems. In
this project you will use a rain gauge to record the rainfall in your
area for a few days or weeks. You can present your results in the form
of a table and a graph.
Who can do this project:
Recording rain gauge is a good Earth Science project experiment for
students in grades 1 to 4. Students will learn the use of a measuring
device, practice recording data and drawing a graph.
